Minding the shop is, under the circumstances, the safest option. There are all sorts of questions to be asking, and probably all sorts of investigative avenues to pursue but, and quite frankly, with all the trouble that Dirk is remembering, and all the trouble he's still been having remembering it, not going looking for additional strife feels like the better option. If trouble wants him, it can come and find him itself.
Anyway, it's his job. Sort of. It's even reasonably nice, puttering about watering or not watering growing things, turning over leaves and humming meaningfully at nothing in particular, which makes him feel important. The shop could do without the haze of incense pervading the place, and especially without the chalkboard sign hung in plain view of patrons and passers-by alike advertising, in a neat hand decidedly not his own, his services as a fortune teller. Taking it down, erasing it, would be admitting defeat, and so he hasn't yet, but that doesn't make him like it any better.
He especially doesn't like it when a customer does arrive, and here's Dirk all ready with a sunny smile, even as he tracks the new arrival's gaze up, up to that sign. Bollocks.
